| Albany Cutter Dedication |

On October 10th about 50 people gathered on the back porch of the Dean House to dedicate the 1890 Albany Cutter and thank Gary Hess for his two years of work restoring it. The cutter was manufactured by the H. C. Staver Mfg. Co. in Chicago. Dick Peterson, a founding member of HBGHS, obtained the cutter from the Ethan Allen School in Wales WI and it sat on the back porch of the Dean House for many years. It was badly deteriorated when Gary Hess, a volunteer and Board member, offered to restore it. One of the speakers at the event was Todd Frey who owns Colonial Carriage Works in Columbus WI restoring all types of carriages and sleighs. He gave Gary advice often and on throughout the two years and was very impressed with the quality of the work that Gary did. The Dean House has a DVD of the dedication ceremony available for viewing. The cutter will be featured at the Christmas Open House on Dec. 12 when Santa will be sitting in it. |

| Eagle Scout Landscape Project |
Thank you, Sam Govier Sam Govier of Boy Scout Troop 146, St Stephens Church, needing an Eagle Scout project, came to HBGHS for ideas. We suggested new landscaping for the front of the Dean House. A committee composed of Sam Govier, Ann Waidelich, Gloria Simley, Judith Bodden (Master Gardener) and Bob Essock met to plan and purchase plant materials. Sam recruited scouts and their parents and supervised two work days on Sept. 10th & 11th. We are very pleased with the results and look forward to seeing the Incrediball Hydrangia in bloom next summer. At the same time Don Taylor and Allen Bodden installed and painted a new fence on the south side of the Dean House next to the stairs to the basement. Beautiful job - thank you. |
| Christmas Open House
Please put Dec. 12th on your calendar for the annual Christmas Open House at the Dean House from 1 - 4 pm. Get into the holiday spirit by bringing your friends for a tour of the house and to enjoy refereshments and music. |
